ROSE UNGER Rose Unger passed away peacefully November 21, 2005, with her sons at her side, at Riverview Health Centre. Funeral services will be held graveside at Rosh Pina Memorial Park, 2795 Main St. on Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at 3:30 p.m. Meal of condolence will follow at Congregation Etz Chayim, 123 Matheson Ave. E. Rose (Gerszonowicz) Unger was born in Lodz, Poland, the second of six children. In 1939 she married Zev Dov Unger. Rose and Zev Dov survived the Holocaust. They immigrated to Israel in 1949 with their young sons and came to Winnipeg in 1951. Zev Dov died in 1979. Rose was married to John Rothblum from 1981 until his death in 1996. By far what was most important to Rose was her family. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren. Her greatest pleasure in later years was time spent with her granddaughters and the precious short time she had with her great-grandson. For many years she looked after the Rosh Pina library and was very active in the Rosh Pina Sisterhood. She was a life member of Hadassah Wizo, Queen Esther Chapter. She was always grateful to Canada for the freedoms and opportunities afforded to her and her family. Rose will be lovingly remembered by sons Phillip and Abe, daughter-in-law Audrey, granddaughters Toby and Becky, grand son-in-law Eric and great-grandchildren Zachary (Zev Dov) and Talia Shoshana as well as nephew Philip Gerson, niece Malka Bazak and their families. Throughout her life, her resourcefulness, dignity, strength, courage, adaptability and loyalty were an inspiration to her family. Her values will live on in their hearts forever. The family would like to thank the staff on 2W, Riverview Health Centre as well as Doris Loewen for their excellent care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jewish National Fund or a charity of your choice. The family will sit Shiva at 301-29 Roslyn Road. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
